I am sorry to hear about your diagnosis, but love your fighting spirit. It's not always easy, but a positive attitude and surrounding yourself with positive people, goes a long way with cancer treatments.

I am nearly 15 years down the line, following 2 bouts of breast cancer within a year and fully subscribe to your consultant's advice. Whatever, you're doing is obviously working and, I sincerely hope that it'll continue to do so for a very long time.

I've been living with Prostate Cancer for 9 years and have had a good quality of life. Now it has spread to lymph nodes in my neck, chest and abdomen. Seems to have caused a partial lung collapse. PSA is up to 44.

Chemo (Docetaxel) may well be the only treatment option left. I'd be interested to hear of peoples experience of this therapy. I'm told that for some men, side effects are relatively minor and well tolerated. Is this the case?

Hello Ed1956,  Thank You for replying. My experience of Docetaxel was not to bad. Everyone is different, but I didn't suffer any hair loss on my head, just didn't have to shave for 3 months. Only side effects was some tiredness for a few days after chemo. The steroids they give you kick in and give me an energy boost. I gained over one stone during chemo. When the course was finished I certainly was in less pain. Most of the men I spoke to on the ward had similar experience than I. Also the staff at the ward were exceptional I looked forward to being pampered for a few hours!
