Hair loss

Hi

I am on my 4th round of chemo and the inevitable side effect is happening, my hair is coming out in quite large quantities.

It's very noticeable at the front.

I don't think I am brave enough to shave it off, as it's shoulder length.

Does anyone have any advice on headgear, with hair, or should I just be brave.

Thanks x

  • Hello pandamum.  My hair started falling out after the second round of chemo, so I asked my nephew to shave it all off for me.  I couldn't stand to see clumps of my waist length blonde hair coming out in the shower, so I decided that I would take the bull by the horns and have the lot shaved off.  I tried wearing a wig, but it made my scalp feel hot and itchy, so I didn't bother with that.  I bought myself some head scarves from Amazon.  They do a really nice selection, especially for people who have been (or are going through) chemo.  You might also find that your scalp is too delicate for scented shampoo, so I bought myself some "Childs Farm Shampoo"  from Amazon.  It has no perfume in it and is very gentle on a newly-shaved head.   Good luck, xx

    Thank you for your reply.

I think that's my best option too.

    Thanks for the head advice.

    Good luck on your journey.

  • You're welcome pandamum, I wish you the best of luck, xx
