Hi
I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2016 and Melanoma Stage 2C in 2021 since then I have been having regular mammograms and, for the melanoma, head mri and pet scans/chest ct scans.
Last August they found that a long nodule that I had no idea about had doubled in size over a two week period and in November 2023 I had a dotatate scan at a hospital London to investigate further. They found on the scan that it was non-avid and considered it was probably benign but they observed that there was a growth on my pancreas that they wanted another MRI to investigate. This was done in March 2024 and they told me it was a splenule and no further action was required.
In April I had a head CT scan with contrast. I spoke to my scn to chase up the results and she told me that she could have a look at them but they did have to go to the MDT team to look at so they may pick up something else.
She rang yesterday to say that as discussed the scans were clear for the brain but they have picked up a small area on my pituatry gland that needs to be looked at by the neuroendorcrine team and not to panic if an appointment comes through. It is very small and looks like a microadenoma (which I have never heard of).
I was really shocked with this news and now a thousand questions are running through my brain:
Could this be mets from the lung nodule that has been growing steadily? Why was it picked up now after having regular scans for the last 3 years? Is it another cancer? My niece was diagnosed with this in her early 20's is there any link?
I don't know if anyone has experienced anything like this but I would be grateful for any feedback
Thank you
Julie
