BCC- how many can you have removed?

I have just been diagnosed with benign skin cancer. Since my appointment with the GP yesterday, I have now convinced myself that I have at least 4 other patches that are the same. Hoe many are they able to remove?

Has anyone experienced BCC's developing into something more serious?

  • Hello Minn

I'm sorry to hear that you've been told you have basal cell carcinoma. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious at the moment. I presume that your GP has referred you to a specialist to have these looked at and treated. Hopefully, you won't have to wait too long for your appointment.

We do have some information about skin cancer including BCC on our website that will hopefully offer you some reassurance. There are a number of different types of BCC but it's very rare for basal cell skin cancer to spread to another part of the body to form a secondary cancer so try to remain positive.

Once the specialist has assessed your skin they will be in a better position to talk to you about treatment options. If in the meantime you'd like to talk things through with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm (excluding bank holidays). I know the will be happy to listen and offer any advice and support they can.

I hope that things are resolved quickly for you Minn.

    Best wishes,
