Proton Beam Therapy

Hi, I had PBT in 2017 for a chondrosarcoma. 39 sessions over 8 weeks in USA. I'm 56 and had T-cell Lymphoma in 1988 with Bone Marrow Transplant hence the continuous cancer diagnoses. I was wondering if anyone has had PBT and can share their long term effects. I was fine during treatment but year on year my fatigue level has increased significantly. I often lack the motivation to get dressed. If anyone can chat about their experience that would be great.

  • A very warm welcome to Cancer Chat Claire although I'm sorry to hear your fatigue seems to be getting worse.

Extreme tiredness is listed as a common long term side effect from radiotherapy, but I hope some of these tips we have on coping with fatigue will help.

Hopefully you will receive some support and advice from our members soon but if you'd like to discuss this further with one of our cancer nurses, they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're really easy to talk and will do all they can to answer your questions and provide whatever help they can.

    Kind regards,
