Should I expect chemo? Lymph nodes positive.

Hi all,

I am 46, premenopausal and I have breast cancer. It is grade 2, hr+ and her2-. They initially removed the tumour and a lymph node, which was positive with 4mm of macrometastasis. They then removed my axillary lymph nodes. I'm currently recovering and waiting the 6 long weeks for the results from the 2nd operation. No oncotype Dx because I am premenopausal and node positive.

If no more lymph nodes are positive will I need chemo? I'm wondering if they will just give me radiotherapy? Any similar stories?

Thank you

you are entitled to Oncotype push for it my diagnosis was the same as you and peri

I did not have chemo my score was low , don’t have chemo just incase you need fact and only the oncotype can give you fact don’t give up I played up to get what I wanted

    good luck love Lara c

  • Thanks Lara. I will try and insist on onco dx but Dr was adamant that I was not eligible. Did you have axillary clearance? I only had 1 sentinel node and it was positive. If my results from clearance show more I think chemo will be a certainty. But if its just the one node I am hoping to avoid it. Fingers crossed. X

  • I was 48 I sentil node positive her2 negative peri meno then had aux node  clearance as a second operation

the law changed on the oncotyoe to if you have node positive you can still have the test I was told no first but played up and had it in the end the test is around £3,000 offer to pay they soon do it if you are in a position to obviously

Read the criteria on the oncotyoe DX website print it take it with you and ask why not when it states you can xx

  • Thanks Lara. I will read up and then go in prepared. Hope you're doing well now x
