Docetaxel fatigue

Hi. I had my 3rd and last docetaxel on 1st march for bc. It was a slightly reduced dose due to some symptoms of nail pain and fatigue. I'm now on day 23 post chemo and my body feels really weak.  It's almost like my legs have run a marathon and my arms have lifted heavy weights.  I don't feel tired as such just really weak.  I can hardly walk far either.  I've tired walking round the corner but had to keep stopping. Even getting up of the sofa or walking to another room I get the ache, it's not painful it's just like I've done too much.  I'm being careful what I eat and trying to get as much fruit and veg as I can in dinners or home made smoothies.  Would a protein shake help? Supplements? My nurse said it's normal.  Has anyone else had this? How long did it last? What did you do to try and help? It's getting me down as it doesn't seem to be getting any better.  Am I being impatient..  thank you x

  • Hello littlejunkheap,

It is a common side effect to feel fatigue, there are things that can help and some tips are available on our website. It might be worth asking your nurse for tips as well, but it's great that you're trying to stay active. Whatever you're doing, the important thing is to take it easy.

    All the best,
