Hair growth during chemo

Hi all,

I've just finished 6 cycles of PolaRChP for diffuse large B-Cell lymphoma and my hair fell out within days of the first cycle. I attended a MacMillan 'Look Good, Feel Better' session (highly recommended, by the way) and one of the longstanding volunteers - a hairdresser - said that she found it quite common, particularly in people with thick, strong hair, that it began to come back almost immediately, though slowly.  I certainly have a 'buzz cut' covering already and my treatment only finished a week ago.

  • Hello Coogs,

Thank you for sharing your hair loss and growth experience. Such an interesting read - I am sure our members who are going through something similar will find your story very interesting as well as  your recommendation of the Look Good, Feel Better sessions. It's great that your hair is coming back so quickly when you only finished your treatment a week ago.

You might be interested in reading the information on our website on hair loss, hair thinning and cancer drugs which also explains what happens when your hair starts to grow back. You've started a really interesting thread and it would be great to hear from the experiences of other members of our forum who suffered hair loss during chemotherapy and are willing to share with us how it all grew back and if it grew back the same or slightly differently? Keep us posted yourself if you don't mind on how your hair is growing back and if you are happy with it? It looks like yours is definitely coming back thick and strong - fingers crossed :)
