Does anyone else with colorectal cancer have the genetic mutation Braf v600e?

Hi, I am wondering if anyone dealing with colorectal cancer also have the genetic mutation Braf v600e? I have this mutation and the prognosis is very depressing. Has anyone successfully treated or is keeping under control?

I would be grateful if anyone can share their experience.

Thank you

Catz

  • Hello Catz,

I am sorry to hear you have this Braf v600e genetic mutation and I hope that you will be able to connect with others on the forum who have the same mutation and who have also been diagnosed with colorectal cancer. I have come across a few past threads on the forum from members who had this mutation with melanoma but I could only find one past thread which might be of interest to you from someone whose mum's bowel cancer had returned and who had the Braf v600e mutation.  's 'Bowel cancer returned now with BRAF mutation' thread is nearly three years old though so you may not hear back from this member but feel free to respond to it if you wish to do so and if you want to share your experience. Have a look too at the Bowel Cancer UK site and if you search for 'Braf' on that site, you will be able to read the stories of others who have colorectal cancer and this genetic mutation.

I'd also suggest giving our team of nurses a call if you have any questions or simply wanted to talk things through with someone. I'm sure they will be happy to offer any information and advice that they can and you can call them Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5pm on this free number 0808 800 4040.

I hope this helps a little.

    Best wishes,
