I'm so sorry to hear you can't have treatment jcd24.

This must be very difficult so it's completely understandable why you may be struggling to stay positive at the moment. Although being positive is a good thing, try not to be too hard on yourself when you can't as it's natural to have down days and negative moments on this journey.

I hope this article we have about trying to stay positive will help, but if you would like to talk things through with one of our cancer nurses, you can do so on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They are very understanding and will do all they can to support you.

Sorry to sound inquisitive but exactly what have you been advised? I have had ulcerative colitis (similar to Crohn’s) for decades but this didn’t stop me being advised that chemo was my only lifeline.

Has your cancer been staged or graded yet? Have they advised that, at this time, treatment might possibly cause more harm than good because the risk from damage to your immune system by going onto chemo would be higher that watching and waiting?

If this is the case, your dilemma is horrible but you do have options:

You could request a second opinion (even if this means going private).

Grin and bear it and arrange for 6 monthly scans to monitor the situation with an agreement to admit you for treatment should the balance of risk move from “doing nothing” being regarded as the best option.

Hi Davek  I’ve had a second opinion if I want to have chemo they’ll do it but I would have to stay in hospital for months because I’m fragile and the pain from the crohn would probably kill me and the chemo 

live been told to think positive and get on with my life they couldn’t tell  how long it could be months or years 

so I’m going to plod along and hope

I follow a lady on you tube Marisa Peer who has amazing positive posts. I use a visualisation technique of soldiers and gremlins going through my body destroying all cancer and pre cancerous cells. Also having gratitude for the day, the sunlight my family and my dog. I hope these baby steps can help you.Sending virtual Hugs and prayers
