Hello everyone! I have secondary kidney cancer in my lung. It began with the removal of my left kidney in 2020. I did not need any further treatment but just before Christmas last year a CT scan found a few small growths in my lungs. These were checked a month later and a couple of these had grown and I was diagnosed with lung metastasis of kidney cancer. I’m 72 and as I only have one kidney my renal function is quite low and this makes treatment somewhat difficult. It was decided to go for tablet based chemo therapy called Tivozanib but I have recently been put on a lower dose as my BP was getting dangerously high far from ideal when you have poor renal function. I have been prescribed BP medication which has reduced it a little. My cancer is not curable and my oncologist has said the aim of treatment is to make my cancer liveable by providing me with a quality of life regarding side effects. I have a sore mouth, aches and pains, nausea, body cramping and chemo brain to name a few. Is anyone on this forum taking the same drug and what are your experiences? I can put up with most of it as long as my BP settles. Thank you for taking the time to read this long missive, best wishes to you and your families.
