I beat stage 4 Follicular Lymphoma Cancer 4 years ago. It is back and I am Fighting each day

I beat stage 4 Follicular Lymphoma Cancer 4 years ago. It is back, I have had two Chemo treatment so far. The next one is next week.

Due to a lower immune system I caught a serious chest infection, affecting my COPD (breathing), causing daily problems. I shall beat it though, and be ready for next week's Chemo.

Had to take a week away from my volunteer Carpentry shop for a charity group. The worse part is coughing that wakes me. Honey and lemon juice I mix myself, helps the throat and I can return to bed.

Takes a lot to beat me, so keep smiling and live for each day, keep your mind busy and not think about cancer or any illness.

  • Hello Condor and thank you for taking the time to come on this forum and share your story with us,

I am so sorry to hear that the follicular lymphoma you beat 4 years ago is back and you are having to fight it again. I hope that the two chemotherapy treatments you have had so far have gone well and best of luck with the one starting next week  - I hope that you have cleared this chest infection and that you can have your treatment. That cough sounds rather unpleasant especially as it wakes you - the honey and lemon concoction is an old classic that works well for everyone and I am glad it helps you go back to bed and hopefully to sleep.

Such a shame you had a take a week away from your volunteer carpentry shop - this sounds like a great activity. Do you get to make nice things?

You have a real fighting spirit and you're right to keep smiling and enjoying life every day even though it can be tough sometimes I imagine but you are in the best possible hands to beat this again as you have done before. Your advice to your community will be greatly appreciated by many who are currently finding it challenging to be going through chemotherapy or cancer treatment. Keeping busy doing things you enjoy is definitely a great tip and managing to focus on other things than the cancer.

We'd love to hear from you again so do keep in touch with updates if you can on how you're getting on with treatment. If you're looking to hear from others on our community with a follicular lymphoma diagnosis,  also started a follicular lymphoma thread last year which you are welcome to contribute to if you wish to do so.

I hope that you will hear from others here who have been affected by follicular lymphoma and wishing you the best of luck for your treatment next week!
