Lung cancer, fibromyalgia and rheumatoid arthritis - in a lot of pain

How do people cope with lung cancer / fibromyalgia/ and rheumatoid arthritis 24/7 . At the same time I am in terrible pain all the time pain killers help a bit but most of the time I’m in pain .

  • Hello Kenj,

Poor you, this sounds an excruciatingly painful combination having to deal with lung cancer, fibromyalgia and rheumatoid arthritis 24/7. I am not sure what painkillers you have been prescribed but it sounds like it might be helpful to talk to your medical team about the fact that despite the painkillers which help a little you are still in a lot of pain a lot of the time. I hope that they will be able to find the adequate pain relief for you to significantly reduce your pain. Our website has a section on types of painkillers which are commonly used to treat cancer pain and your specialist/medical team will be best placed to advise you on what might be most suitable to you which would work best to tackle the pain caused by all these three issues you are having to deal with.

Other members of our community may have been in the past or are currently suffering from the effects of lung cancer, fibromyalgia and rheumatoid arthritis and I hope that you will hear from their experiences shortly.

Feel free also to give our cancer nurses a call on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their helpline is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm and they will be happy to advise you and point you in the right direction.

    Best wishes,
