Going for lumpectomy for DCIS

Hello, I was diagnosed in November 2020 and had lymph node clearance for Lobular cancer in my left breast, followed by radiotherapy,Zometa infusions, still on Exemestane.Post op had Pulmonary embolis x 2 resulting now being on life long Apixaban and two falls fracturing 3 ribs either side. But apart from all that felt very fortunate to have been very fit and well and back to usual busy life.Had my visit to Oncologist who discharged me and left me under supervision of Breast Care team.As you will imagine overjoyed. Even received my follow up appointment for a years time.Had had my 3 year Mammogram which showed calcifications in my right breast.Over the past month have had biopsies which show DCIS and now going for lumpectomy this week, probably followed by Radiotherapy. Emotionally struggling with this ,scared and my head racing.Feel guilty as so many people going through much worse.I’m usually a coper but this has pulled the rug right out from under my feet.

  • I'm sorry to hear DCIS was found on your biopsies and you now need a lumpectomy.

  • Hi JakeyS

I’m sorry to hear that you were diagnosed with DCIS. after having lobular cancer in your other breast. I can relate to your feelings. I was diagnosed with DCIS earlier this year and it was a bombshell. I knew I was really lucky and that so many others were dealing with so much more, but there were plenty of times when I felt overwhelmed. Having had a wide local excision and a cavity shave, I didn’t need radiotherapy, as I first thought. I’m now recovering and taking one day at a time.

I hope your operation went well and that you are OK.

If it helps, please get in touch

    My best wishes
