cancer advice

hello i have been diagnosed with T4 N3 cancer in the gland or node from a tonsil and wanted to know, is this treatable? i only know this diagnosis because the hospital sent me a copy of the letter they sent to my gp and not to me, is there a light at the end of the tunnel for me on this? i would appreciate any advise on this as i am now imagining the worst, thank you in advance

  • Hello ichi

I'm sorry to hear that you've been given this news via a letter. It's natural that you will have lots of questions about what this means and what treatment options may be available to you.

Do you have another hospital appointment arranged? The specialist team at the hospital will be best placed to answer your questions because they will have all the information to hand about your health and the test results. If you don't have an appointment arranged then do give them a call to ask what the next steps will be. You can either do this by contacting the team/specialists secretary or the clinical nurse specialist if you were given contact details.

We have lots of members here in the Cancer Chat community who have been through treatment for various head and neck cancers. You might find it helpful to post on this thread where many of those members have shared their stories. Hopefully you will be able to connect with others who have been through treatment for tonsil cancer.

If you'd like to talk with our nurses at any point you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

Keep in touch ichi and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
