Hot tub and sauna

Hi guys, first post so please be gentle, today been diagnosed with grade 3 triple neg breast cancer, starting chemo in a couple of weeks, already had a break away booked this weekend but not sure if i should use the sauna and hot tub, i know it should be the last thing on my mind just now but being on auto pilot seems to be the only way i can process this just now.

Any help would be appreciated

  • Welcome to our forum, Sweethart241.

I'm sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis.

While I'm not a medical professional, it might be a good idea to reach out to your healthcare team for advice regarding the sauna and hot tub, considering your upcoming chemotherapy as every case is different and they will be the ones who can best advise you on this.

The other thing I wanted to mention is that if you feel like speaking with one of our nurses might help, please know they're  available Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m on this freephone 0808 800 4040.

    I hope this helps.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Sweetheart241

Enjoy your break away! I have metastatic ovarian cancer, first diagnosed in 2019. In 2021, I began a clinical trial for the whole year. I was on the clinical trial drug and chemo, and side effects were pretty bad at that time. I dipped into cold sea water followed by far infrared sauna ( my partner had it that time) session, which helped dealing with side effects. Sauna and hot tub sometimes makes me feel a bit tired afterwards, so I always monitor how I feel. If not sure, always good to have a chat with your oncologist or even your support nurse. Enjoy every moments!
