Secondary Breast cancer

I finished radiotherapy on Monday after a mammoplasty lumpectomy and full lymph node surgery - it was in 1 of the 18 nodes removed. I am in total shock as yesterday I was advised the breast cancer is o my lung and my back!

i had a Ct scan before Christmas because a indeterminate nodule was found on my lung at initial diagnosis.  The doctor had said it was most probably mucus - but obviously the cancer had spread before the initial diagnosis.

i have a full Ct scan booked on Tuesday but my fight has gone!  On Tuesday I thought I had reached the end with finishing radiotherapy and starting on hormone therapy but instead I have limited time left !

  • Hi my lovely, this is a valid feeling - this is my exact feelings when i was diagnosed back 2021 mets to lungs and bones at the age of 33. Shocking as i was in the peak of married life, career and being a mum to my wonderful little girl. I am 35 now, still in palbociclib, letrozole, denosumab and zoladex. My cancer is stable everywhere except from the pesky new growth on my sacrum. Waiting for radiotherapy at the moment. There will be good day and bad days, and there will be extremely bad days, but know that you are not alone and we have each other. Sending love and light xxxx

  • I was too diagnosed back 2021 at the age if 33, mets to lungs and liver but as of now been NED since January last year and just on maintenance treatment. Always happy to chat and share experiences xx

  • Hi lovely, i am pleased your trearment is working so well and you have been NED since. My treat kept me stable for 19 cycles until i have a new growth in my sacrum. Still on palbo but will have radiotherapy in the area, fingers crossed they can get it. may I ask what treatment are you on? My receptors are ER +, PR -, Her2 -

    xx

  • Hi. I really hope radio will get rid of it. I'm triple positive and I've had 6 cycles of docetaxel and my maintenance treatment is phesgo every 3weeks, zoladex every 4 weeks and daily letrozole. Xx

  • Thank you very much, fingers crossed it will get rid of it as i am not ready to change treatment yet and scared what will be the outcome. I heard amazing things about phesgo, its a wonder drug for many. I have zoladex too not my favourite but having it every 3 months now still a pain that one lol. Xx

  • I do agree about phesgo if definable is a wonder drug. Every 3 months is good I have asked my oncologist if I can have it every 3 months but she said it's better to have it 4weekly so I just do what she says. Sorry for sounding daft but is palbo an iv drug or in a tablet form? Xx

  • Not daft lovely, Palbo is in tablet form. Doable drug, some people lasted for more than 4 years without their cancer progressing. Thank you for this info regarding zoladex, did your oncologist said why is it better 4 weekly? After switching to 3 months i felt like i am gaining so much weight particularly in the abdomen area. X

  • Ahh OK lol sorry I only know about my regime xx I think she meant that about zoladex cuz my type of cancer is quite aggressive but responds very well to certain theraphy. In regards of weight putting I have noticed that I can't lose any due to hormonal treatment even tho I do intermittent fasting my weight seems to be dropping when i keep to it but my belly seems no different tbh but again I don't ever seem to be keeping to it for longer that a month lol xx
