Bladder & Prostate Problem

Hi I was recently diagnosed with non invasive bladder cancer and underwent 2 TURBT procedures first to remove the tumour and second to check result. I am now waiting to start my course of chemotherapy planned for next month. While undergoing the second TURBT the surgeon reported I had an enlarged prostate I was subsequently examined in the Urology dept and the doctor told me he suspected I was suffering from Prostatisis and prescribed cyprofloxacin. However my worry is that my enlarged prostate is due to cancer, I had a CT scan on my abdomen and thorax area at the beginning of the investigations of my bladder and was told the cancer hadn’t spread outside the bladder but I’m worried the prostate problem may be a separate issue. Can anyone suggest who I should ask if there is cancer present in the prostate would it have shown on the ct scan and should I ask if further scans are required to confirm no cancer is present as I was told by my GP that a PSA test at the moment wouldn’t give a correct result TIA for any help and advice regards Hicky

  • Hello Hicky

I'm sorry to hear about all that you've been dealing with recently. It's understandable that you have some concerns about your prostate health given all that you've been through.

I would suggest that you raise your concerns with your Consultant or chat with your Clinical Nurse Specialist as they will be best placed to answer your questions regarding the CT scan that you had and arrange any further tests that may be appropriate. Hopefully, they will be able to give you some reassurance.

If you'd like to chat things through with one of our nurses they're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040 (excluding bank holidays).

I wish you well for the rest of your treatment and hope that things improve for you soon.

    Best wishes,
