I have been on tamoxifen a year my side affects didn’t start unitil around 6 to 8 months in , my mood is not to bad I have my days but generally ok but I suffered terrible flushes ,I generally think it’s part of the parcel I have to take these for 5 years the joys hey I’m 14 months in a while left yet hope things settle for you x wish I didn’t have to take the bad boys

I also find that certain brands of tanoxifen are much worse with side effects I found the relon brand the green inside pkt were horrendous side effects , the one that suits me is the tilomed brand hood you find one that suits you I refuse any other

I am sorry to hear that you are having problems with mood swings whilst you are on Tamoxifen. If you look at the advice that comes in the packet, you will find that this is a fairly common problem with Tamoxifen. I took these for a year and had terrible bother with my emotions during that time. I then changed to Letrozole, which caused more problems with my joints and eyesight, but was better for my mood swings. As Laraj says, it comes with the territory.

It might be worth talking to your consultant to see if another drug could be prescribed. Most of the hormone therapies seem to have similar side-effects, although some are worse with one drug than with the other.
