Hello all

I am at my wits end I am 5 day post left mastectomy and a 40DD on the right side I have not worn a bra since my op and just don’t know what to do . Both sides ache and the mastectomy side is so tight and sore . I have no drain as was glued I have a golf ball size  seroma under my arm on the end of the scar and a smaller one the other end . Would a bra help should I or shouldn’t I wear one.

    A very warm welcome to our forum.

    I'm surprised that you were never advised to wear a soft bra straight away. You will probably find it difficult to find a bra that gives you much support to start with, but it will be better than nothing. I had a double mastectomy, but that was 14 years ago and mine wasn't glued. Your seroma sound quite large and will be causing a tightness. Why not phone your breast care nurse on Monday and see what she advises. The seroma can be drained and this might ease some of your pain. Having said this, they are not always keen to drain them, as they can fill up again. I had to have mine drained a few times and this did give me great relief.

    As you are only 5 days post-surgery, you can expect some pain. There is still a lot of healing to take place inside.  I hope that it settles soon.
