Sertraline for hot flushes

Hi has anyone been put on sertraline for hot flushes. I’ve been on it about a month and I’m not sleeping at all like an hour or two a night. It’s been awful. I’m also on zoladex and anastrozole. 

my anxiety has gotten better though but still having hot flushes and night sweats although not as bad. The lack of sleep, dry mouth, upset tummy and headaches don’t seem to be worth it and I don’t know what to do.

    Hi Ahill,

    I am sorry to hear that you seem to have developed some side-effects to the Sertraline. As Lara and Corlaid have indicated, there are other medicaments which can help with the night sweats. Was this prescribed by your breast care team or by your GP? Contact whoever it was and let them know how you are feeling and I'm sure that they will change it.

    If the dry mouth persists, you can get a spray to help with this. There is also a salivary stimulant, in the form of a gel pastille. I still use both of these 14 years after my 2 bouts of breast cancer.
