Due to have Radiotherapy to my chest wall

Good evening

I am due to have radiotherapy to my chest wall, 15 sessions over 3 weeks.  If you have had this, can i ask how you were during this treatment?

I am 12 weeks post surgery and want to return to work but feel reluctant to go back if i only have to go off again due to radiotherapy side effects.

Thanks for listening. x

  • Hayley I had 5 sessions due to breast cancer

I was very tired for a few weeks afterwards I did work through but from home hope this helps xx

  • Hi Laraj

Not really but thank you. I know everyone responds to treatment differently.

We read as much information available and the doctors say you can continue life as normal through treatment. I suppose you only know when you know.

Im in a much better place now that i am feeling more myself. I have reslised that i am more emotional then before. Always something new to discover about yourself when going through all these changes.

Once again thank you for your response. Enjoy your evening. X

  • Hayley

eill you be taking hormone tablets after radiotherapy?

I was quite emotional through radiotherapy xx

I would take fine out allow yourself this time to relax if you can looking back I should have taken time away off xx

Hi , radiotherapy has a cumulative effect so it’s not until it’s almost finished that you notice the effects . I was a single mum of two and it wiped me out ! Everyone is different of course , my boss worked through hers . I wish you well . It is is normal to feel emotional , it’s a massive rollercoaster ride xx

  • Good morning Laraj

I have been started on Tamoxifen already. Im about 20 days in.

A few headaches, paracetamol on the morning and evening deals with those and hot flushes, which i never had before.

Atm im very relaxed to the point of boredom, lol. My radiotherapy starts next week, not long now.

Thank you for your support. Its good to talk xx

  • Thank you LCR

Being the person that i am, i just wondered if people did different things to help limit the effects, i.e resting through radiotherapy rather then being hit with major fatigue afterwards. How often to apply E45 cream after a session to help limit soreness etc.

    Xx

  • Hayley if the flushes get bad go to gp mine gilt uncontrollable but after 9 months or so I sent to GP be gave me tablets to control this I now don’t have any flushes at all they are called clonodine x

Hi , just listen to your body, I had a month of radiotherapy Mon-fri but I think it’s less now . I just felt really fatigued , not tired to sleep just no energy . I didn’t get sore at all , so everyone is different . Good luck x
