I started tamoxifen I’m nov and sadly it’s brought on menapause for me xx it’s only the last month or so I feel it’s getting more and more symptoms xx it’s not that bad but you no it’s there xx  it took around 6 to 7 months to come on me xx 

I’ve heard tamoxifen can do that. I’m just worried as it will be so instant with the meds and taking the ovaries. It’s all so much after a lot already. X

I think most of these hormone tablets are the same none being better than other it seems like some tolerate some better than the other but don’t think any are a walk in the park for us , but they are no where near as bad as I thought xx but definitely got majority of st time x

Zoladex is the injection that puts you in instant menopause. I’ll have that plus anastrozole which is the tamoxifen equivalent of cancer drug but an ai and for post menopausal. Because the cancer is er and pr + and I’m so far away from menopause they want to stop my hormones now. I have to be on zoladex for a month before I start the anastrozole. 

it gives me an increased chance of non recurrence so I’m just having to throw everything at it.

The tablets are not so bad only now starting to get symptoms after 8 or 9 months they are there but not terrible they are manageable xx 

Hello Ahill , that is pretty scary for you . I was already menopausal when I had breast cancer ,unfortunately the tablets we have to take give us all the symptoms of the menopause.I still have night and day sweats and I am working with my GP to overcome these symptoms.Some friends of mine have flown through the menopause without any symptoms. Stay positive xx

That’s good news. It’s all such a minefield. I’m constantly panicking the cancer will come back and then worrying that without my ovaries for so long all those other issues. 

Yes the tablets on top of the menopause isn’t going to be fun is it. It’s rubbish isn’t it.

Not too bad actually. She talked me through my options and which HRT would be most appropriate. She recommended Evorel Conti patch which I picked up from the pharmacy yesterday. I'm going to start it today.

She talked me through all the side effects and risks (including the increased risk of some cancers) and said she'd see me again in 6 months time.

I think starting HRT depends on when you last had a period - that was the impression I got anyway as she was particularly interested in that.

Hello again ,yes I think they will prescribe it after a year of no period. I was on those patches for years and thought they were brilliant. Good luck R 

Yeah I haven't had one for 18 months but 6 months of that was because I took norethisterone so I didn't have a period during my surgeries and treatment. Once I finished radiotherapy and chemotherapy it never came back although she did say that I might have some breakthrough bleeding when I start using these patches.
