Tamoxifen - hair thinning / loss

Hi all

My partner has successfully been treated for BC, where she has had a mastectomy and a round of radiotherapy. Thankfully everything has seemed to have gone to plan and she is now talking tamoxifen, and has been for approx 6/7 months. Side effects have been very minimal however in recent weeks, she has really noticed that her hair is beginning to fall and notices a lot when brushing her hair, running her hands through her hair which is now causing her a lot of distress. She has quite thick hair and she is terrified of losing her hair.

I'm wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar whilst taking tamoxifen? Did anyone lose all their hair? Has anyone had any luck using any products to reduce the effects?

My partner has been so strong throughout the process and I know we have been so fortunate not to experience any real significant side effects thus far, this has really knocked her confidence.

Any help / suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Hi LCR ,how long had you taken Letrezole when you notice the hair loss ? I have been on it for four months now ,my hair just growing back after chemo

Hi , quite early on within 3 weeks .I hate the poison ( sorry drug) but I have no choice but to take it!

Hi,

have been on Tamoxifen following breast cancer for nine years.

my hair is thinning more and more, I get upset when I see the amount of hair on my hair brush and on the carpet. Have asked the doctor to review if I still need to take it and I actually said I would rather take my chances of getting cancer again than lose my hair, I feel that strongly.

Yesterday I bought some Perfectil skin, hair nails vitamins and some Plantur 21. Hope it helps.

Hi it is so upsetting . I now take Bamboo extract and vit B12 which helps with the hair shedding xx

Hi

My partner started using Plantur, she seems to vary between 21 or 39 and hasn't mentioned any concerns since.

She did however more recently decide to come away from using tamoxifen, when speaking with the oncologist, in her case the percentages involved were very minute, she was really struggling with brain fog etc and was very unhappy.

Yes, brain fog is a problem, especially when I forget things mid sentence and find it difficult to focus.

it has been making me unhappy for a few years and I really don’t like taking medication unless it is very necessary. I won’t even take a paracetamol unless I’m in unbearable pain.
