  • Hello Bea1060,

I thought I would share with you our Niraparib page (Zejula) - you will find under the sub section  'heart problems' that heart palpitations (a faster heartbeat) are listed as one of the common side effect of this cancer drug. The advice that is given on our website is to "tell your doctor or nurse straight away if you have headaches, nose bleeds, blurred or double vision, shortness of breath, palpitations or chest pain". Given that your mum is experiencing a faster heart beat, it's important that she gets in touch with her doctor or nurse as soon as possible and that she mentions this faster heart rate and the fact she is taking this treatment.

If you would like to talk to one of our nurses about this, don't hesitate to get in touch with them on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm. I also hope that you will hear from other members of our community who have been prescribed this drug before and suffered similar side effects.

    Best wishes,
