Can radiotherapy affect existing moles?

Hi all,

I completed radiotherapy to my right breast and clavicle area (SCF) at the end of March this year. I had 15 sessions and 5 boosts. I was just checking my skin and noticed a mole is looking a bit weird. Can radiotherapy affect existing moles?

Any damage to the skin can cause moles to change. As with any mole change, get it checked, and if anything, you'll have peace of mind.

Hi,
Radiotherapy can cause a second primary cancer but it's rare. As already advised, it's best to get any mole changes checked out. Hopefully it will be fine. Good luck and please let us know how you get on.

Hi Angie,
Thank you for your reply. I will be getting it checked out. My concern is there are differences in colour. It's small and not irregular in shape.
These things always seem to happen to me at the weekend! :mischief:
