Feeling really low today

Hi All,

I've had 3 EC chemotherapy so far for breast cancer, but I'm changing to TCH for my next 3, then phesgo injections after, will also be having surgery in there somewhere too.

I'm feeling really anxious and low about it all today, I'm so scared about changing to something different and the phesgo injections being for so long.

Is anyone else having this type of treatment.

Thanks Linz

  • Linz

    big hugs love Lara ️

  • Hi Linz

I'm sorry to hear you're feeling anxious and low, I didn't have the exact same treatment as you (I had lumpectomy, chemo, radiotherapy and now hormone therapy) but I am a year on from my diagnosis and am now getting back into 'normal' life. I have started back at work and am getting ready for the trips and things I booked during treatment. I found it really helpful to get a few things booked once I knew when the end of treatment was likely to be, as it gave me something to look forward to and aim for. I know its easier said than done but try to remember this isn't forever and it will pass.

I had counselling throughout my treatment, and I found that incredibly helpful too. I'm really lucky that I was able to access this at the hospital I had my treatment at, but it may be something to look into if you think you would benefit from it?

    Sending lots of love xx

  • Thank you for your reply, its lovely to hear your getting back to normal life

  • Hi Lara,

I'm feeling better thank you, still very nervous about changing chemo, but I have an appointment with my consultant tomorrow, so hopefully he can put my mind at rest a bit.

I think loosing my hair has really knocked my confidence too

I really think that they should do something now about the hair loss it's massive to us ladies . Why can't they find something it's honestly the biggest set back from treatment, I no people say it will grow back it's temporary it's a s price to pay but to me it's massive and horrifying and I'm with you on this lovely

I really hope your next set of chemo suits you just think it's halfway so results tgere for sure

    big hugs love Lara Heart

  • Thank you Lara.

Yeh it seems to be the worst thing. Hopefully one day they will find a treatment that doesn't cause hair loss.

Saw my consultant yesterday, he seems to think I'll be OK with the next round, so fingers crossed.

He wants me to have 4 more now not 3, so hopefully chemo will be done with in August, and then I can have surgery.

    Xxx

  • Hi Linz, how are you feeling now? Was the meeting with your consultant helpful? I had 3 x EC followed by 4 x Docetaxel (T), and am continuing with Phesgo (H). I didn't have Carboplatin (C). I've had surgery and radiotherapy and am now NED (no evidence of disease)! Docetaxel was a bit more challenging than EC for me, mainly because of the effect on my taste buds. Food tasted awful for a few weeks and it made me really miserable. Are you also having Filgrastim injections to boost your white blood count? They can cause a bit of joint/muscle pain, but this can be managed with paracetamol or co-codamol. So try not to worry and if you cope half as well as I did, you'll be absolutely fine. Time will fly and soon you'll be looking back and patting yourself on the back for getting through it. Just keep a note of your side effects each day and report anything you're worried about to your team or call the emergency number - they are always more than happy to help and advise. Stay as active as you can and try to eat as healthily as possible. You've got this! Best wishes, Amy x

  • Hi Amy,

Sorry I've only just seen your msg.

It's a week since I had the TCH, I was absolutely fine for the first 2 days then I got really bad pain in my joints for a couple of days.

Yes I'm on the injections, I've been on them since the start, and I hate them !  ! more because I hate injecting myself.

I have 3 more to go now, I feel a bit like, I know there is an end, but I just can't see it yet.

I've got an appointment next week to discuss my surgery too

    Xx
