Oesophageal cancer

My partner is stage 4 since 2020 and has been on Herceptin . Been doing great and ct scans showing no sign of primary cancer but he has not been able to eat at all even though scan is great and now is struggling to drink . They have scheduled him in for an endoscopy, has anyone had this happen to them and what was it ?

  • Welcome to the forum, Laylay

I'm sorry to hear about your partner's situation. It can be distressing when someone is facing difficulties with eating and drinking despite positive scan results.

We have some information about endoscopies on our website but basically, it's a procedure commonly used to examine the digestive tract for any underlying problems. It aims to identify potential issues that may be contributing to the difficulty your partner is experiencing. That being said, it's important to voice your concerns and questions with the healthcare professionals involved in your partner's care. They will provide you with more specific information about the procedure, its purpose, and what to expect.

Hopefully, others with similar experiences will come along shortly to share their stories with you but until they do, if you feel like asking some questions our team of nurses before your partner's test, they're available Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m on this freephone 0808 800 4040.

    Best wishes to you both,
