Coping with medication: secondary cancer mets in bones

Hi I was just wondering if and how anyone else was coping with medication, I'm on monthly injections denosumab daily letrazole and twice daily abermaciclib, I'm ok most the time although the latter is nasty with sickness, I'm back at work full time and coping most of it, just some days thinking I could do with a duvet day or false sickie anyone else

  • Hello Pigginheck,

You seem to be doing incredibly well considering all the medication you are taking - I hope you are coping ok with the sickness. It might be worth talking to your GP about the sickness this medication is causing and whether there is anything they could suggest to help you feel better. Our section on cancer and sickness has great information and tips to help you control sickness. Hopefully if you manage to overcome this terrible nausea, it will be easier to cope in your daily life so make sure you talk to your doctor.

It's remarkable you are back at work full time and I hope that you are enjoying work - you seem to be coping really well. Given everything you are going through and all the medication you are taking, you definitely deserve a duvet day from time to time and it wouldn't be pulling a sickie to do so especially if it means you then recharge your batteries and feel better the next day. So be kind to yourself and allow yourself to rest - do talk to your doctor too if you feel you need a little bit of time off to help you feel more energised.

You're not alone Pigginheck, other members of our forum will completely understand what you mean and will have faced similar struggles coping with medication. I hope that they will be along shortly to share their experience with you.

    Best wishes,
