Kadcyla/TDM1 and low platelets

Hello. I am currently having TDM-1 as an adjuvant treatment post surgery. However, after the 5th cycle, my platelets dropped such that the treatment was delayed for another week until platelets are about 100. I was allowed to have the 6th cycle at 80% reduced dose. I am due my 7th cycle tomorrow but because platelets are below 100 again that my Oncologist said to delay it again and recheck bloods next week, if all is well can have the TDM1 with further reduced dose. In terms of how I feel with the TDM1 , generally I am feeling okay

I am freaking out because I do not want my treatment to be delayed everytime. Has anyone else been on TDM1 and what are your experiences?

Are there any tips you could share on how I could improve my platelet count?

many thanks in advance.

  • Hello Moen

I'm sorry to hear that you've been having some issues with your platelet count during this phase of your treatment. It's understandable that you want things to proceed as smoothly as possible without a delay in each cycle.

What has the hospital team advised about your platelet count? Hopefully someone with experience in this treatment will reply to share their experience with you but in the meantime do talk to your clinical team about your concerns for some advice and reassurance.

If you'd like to chat things through with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

I hope that your platelet count improves and that you're able to go ahead with the next cycle as planned.

    Best wishes,
