Small bowel no more treatment!

Im 66 and have Stage 4 small bowel adenocarcinoma with secondaries in my lungs and abdomen. Originally I had surgery in 2015 and recurrence on scan in 2019. I had about two years of chemo since then and have recently been told there's no more treatment. I was aware about the lack of options but I'm finding it difficult now it's come to it. I'm really well with only a little breathlessness on exertion so I'm lucky but it just feels like they've given up on me! I'm left waiting to become ill. How do people cope?

  • I'm so sorry to hear no more treatment is available for you Natty.

I can't begin to imagine how difficult it must have been to hear this and to try and accept the news that you've been given.

Hopefully some of our members who have been in this position will be along soon to share their experiences and advice, but if you'd like to talk things through with one of our cancer nurses, they're just a phone call away on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They are very supportive and will do all they can to help.

We're thinking of you Natty and I hope that being a part of our community can offer you some strength, and comfort, at this very challenging time.

    Kind regards,
