Cancer has changed shape

I have breast cancer, due to have my 12 th weekly chemo this week.

Got called yesterday to see the surgeon today to discuss surgical options ( had a MRI on Monday)  so basically the cancer hasn't shrunk or grown, he said it has moved and changed shape, it was two lumps but has moved into three, and one area isn't responding to the chemo and it has honey combed the cancer ( made holes in it( I'll be having a mastectomy ( fine with me, take it away) after I finish the next lot of chemo.

I'm not really sure how to feel? I'm trying not to go waaaaaaa! It's not fair etc etc, and I'm seeing the oncologist next week to do they'll be more info by then, but, urgh, I am gutted. I thought it'd have shrunk it a bit at least. What the hell does this mean now?

  • Hello Chocolateismyfavourite...

I am sorry to hear the cancer hasn't shrunk or grown and that one area isn't responding to the chemotherapy treatment. I can understand why you are feeling a bit upset by all this. I hope that your appointment with the oncologist goes well next week and that they will be able to clarify things for you a bit and tell you more about your options and what this all means.

Our nurses are available on this free number 0808 800 4040 if you would like to talk things through with them  - their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm so don't hesitate to give them a call if you have any questions.

I hope that you will hear from other ladies here who have been through this before and been told that their cancer had changed shape. It helps to talk to others who are in the same boat.

    Best wishes,
