Good afternoon everyone, after about five years I'm going to tell you about my "battle" not really a battle but more of a capitulation...
I had Proton beam therapy at a specialist cancer centre, recommended by the "Prof" over other choices. I was sat in the chair, mask over the face and eyelids held steady. I actually saw Cherenkovs Radiation. I found it extremely interesting from an engineering point of view.
Now to the present. The beam has upset, re-aligned, moved or manouvered my retina. I can no longer see clearly through the right eye. There is a dark (almost black) area to the bottom left of my view and this darkness gradually decreases towards the upper right but nowhere in the view is my sight clear.
The problem with the retina has given me Meibomian gland dysfunction, (MGD I should have preffered an MGA)! Which means both eyes are watering constanly and copiously. both eyes as the body cannot differenciate between the two so both water.
When horizontal i.e. at night my eyes dry out and feel gritty. My option is to boil up some water pour it onto a folded kitchen tissue sraped over the tap, wave it about to cool it then press onto my eyes. As I have diabetes (type 2) I'm usually up due to the need to wee, so killing two birds with one stone. I do have eye drops but they last so little time before evaporating/dribbling away and eye cream but that stops me from reading the menu on the BBC Sounds channel.
I usually listen to half an hour of a scientific programme, sometimes I'm back off to sleep before it ends and other times I lie awake untill it's time to wash my eyes again. How I wish I had opted to have this dambed eye dug out with a warm dessert spoon! Did I tell you I have suffered from anxiety for the last 65 years ?
(Choose a subject that suits your post:), nothing covers this mega winge, but that is the best of a bad lot.
I shall not be waiting for a reply.
Cheers, Tony.
