Facial numbness after docetaxel

Hi,

Had my last dose of docetaxel a week ago Monday.

I've been getting a numbing sensation on my face too, mostly around mouth and forehead. Like someone said, it's the feeling you get when anaesthetic wears off after dental trip.

I've had no end of effects from docetaxel, mostly excruciating pain.

Due for operation in about 3 weeks, hoping the effects start easing soon. I've read some nightmare stories about lasting effects

Lots of love all  stay strong xx

  • Hi MRah,

I'm sorry to hear you've been having a tough time with side effects. I hope that the numbness and other effects begin to ease soon. Of course do discuss any concerns or difficulties with your doctor at any point if you're worried or if things are difficult to manage.

If others have similar experience to share then hopefully they'll see your post and send a reply.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben

  • Yes I have the same numbness oncologist says it's the paclitaxel   I finished chemo back in July some days is worse than others. I also have peripheral neuropathy I my feet. I suppose I have got use to my face feeling tight.  X

  • Hi Lobelia,

Sorry to hear you're still suffering. If anything you have prepared me now.

The numbing sensation is still there but I've noticed discolouration on my face where its affected. There's almost a distinct physical difference of where its numb and not!

Chemo is horrendous! Don't wish anyone to go through this.

All the best going forward,  stay positive xx
