Can anyone help or advice me start radiotherapy for left breast Cancer next week then I'm finally free any help please or advice befit it starts x
I was hoping to boogie to some Motown but it was popular music and you're right it's over quicker that you think.
I never had a CT scan so not sure so the one I had planning on is it that machine you have the radiotherapy?
Yes need good music , surely in 2022 we could pick any tracks we like yes I like Motown too xx
I had my first CT scan ever last week in a local hospital.
My radiotherapy was is a large city hospital 65 miles away.
When they do the tattoo and I don't mean an artistic tattoo it is a single INK spot to guide the radiation beam to where it's meant to be going.
When you get the permanent ink spot tattoo that is during your planning scan and I can't remember what machine it was but unlike a CT scan I did not need to be without food for 4 hours beforehand.
They give you this single ink spot tattoo its to accurately guide the radiologists to move your arm about to the correct position under the radiation machine to make sure you are in the same position each time you get your radiotherapy treatment.
Just close your eyes tightly don't move and enjoy the music!
Thank you for your story xx I be glad when it's over xx
The worst thing for me me at planning was I couldn't hold my breath properly I was a mess I may take a calmer tablet before I go cause I was in full panick mode x
At planning I was not told to hold my breath.
Nor was I told to hold my breath during the time the radiation treatment was given.
All I was asked to do was to lie still and not move my hands or anything else .
please don't worry unnecessarily
Was yours on the left ? They had me Doing breathing tests over and over xx
My first cancer was right breast and had radiotherapy in April this year.
I was not asked to do breathing tests.
If you are asked to do something you are not sure of and why they are asking you to do it.
Then just go and ask them and they will soon tell you why you are asked to do something and the reason why?
This will let you feel more in control but I understand your trepidation about the unknown and it's perfectly natural to feel like this.
The radiotherapy machine is open both sides in the middle of a very big room so either right or left they will get you into the correct position each time to help them guide the beam to exact spot each time.
Just got a call this afternoon from surgeons secretary I go into big city hospital 65 miles away to have a radioactive tag fitted on Nov 10 as outpatient?
Then been provisionally booked in for breast conserving surgery while they take out my tumour.
Then I look forward to a return radiotherapy session to my left breast and fighting off this unwelcome lodger in my body.
