I can just share what happened to me this April having Radiotherapy after right breast surgery.

I was advised by radiogolist  to rub in Aveeno cream in circular motions around entire breast to stop any hard lumps forming in the affected breast.

Perhaps consider asking the breast care nurse or the oncology nurse about any advice that would be suitable for you.

thank you for your kind advice , I have been using a cream for a week now hopefully this will help prior my treatment was it left or right breast for you ? I'm left and the planning breathing was hard x

Hi Lara, 

I had left breast radiotherapy in July. The breathing was actually not too bad and the sessions were quick once you're in position, just a few minutes.

I used aquaphor two or three times a day and other than a small amount of redness no other problems.

Right breast for me in April and now spread to my left breast.

Waiting for an urgent surgery to my left breast now which will be followed by radiotherapy.

I used the cream after my radiotherapy.

Again ask the breast care nurse if you are to use the cream before during or after treatment.

My advice is to check with the care providers involved if you are unsure about anything.

I did fall asleep on the sofa one afternoon and woke up three hours later! But generally wasn't too bad! I had covid at the same time at the beginning of the radiotherapy so was pretty run down already so that might have contributed.

Of course everyone is different but if you have the option allow time to rest. X

Oh bless you getting covid around same time , I'm trying to lay low this week I start next week scared of the breathing I was a total panick mess at the planning x

I have had NO chemo at all.

Tip.......while you have the radiotherapy.

The radiologists ask what music you want to listen to, so choose what relaxes you.

Then whatever you do......KEEP your eyes firmly closed.

Do not open them not even for a wee peek!
