  • Hello Michelle,

I am really sorry to hear about your dad's lung cancer and that he is struggling with this persistent cough linked to the lung cancer. It sounds like the cough is having a massive impact on his quality of life as it's preventing him from getting a decent night's sleep and causing this chest and rib pain.

It might be worth getting in touch with your dad's GP or medical team. Make sure you mention that codeine has not helped and ask whether they have any suggestions for you to help him gain some quality of life.

Feel free also to give our nurses a call on this free number 0808 800 4040 if you would like to talk things through with them - their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

I hope that you will also hear from other forum members who have had similar experiences and that they will be along shortly to share their story with you.

    Best wishes,
