Oncology

Hi

i was diagnosed with breast cancer back in may, had 2 tumours that had spread to 8 lymph nodes, so had a mastectomy and 16 lymph nodes removed. I was meant to have oncology on 8th August but because infection got in the way my first appointment is now this coming Monday. The worrying thing is what the cells are doing atm in this time. Absolutely dreading what the oncologist is going to say as my cancer is eostrogen positive I've also got to have a dxr X-ray to check bones on the 7th October absolutely stressful times

  • Hi Betsy

Lovely to speak to you , yes I no I'm same diagnosed in June 29 th and had lumpectomy and auxiliary node clearance in 2 ops , only saw oncologist 14 th sept for first appointment so no chemo or no tablets or no radiation yet does seem a long time to me too , I'm waiting on yet another test called oncotype can be another 2 to 3 weeks yet and I'm going crazy would rather just get on with treatment but it seems like a never ending wait at the moment x how are you after your operations anyway hope you have recovered well xx

  • Hi, it sounds like a very challenging time for you. I know how difficult the waiting can be. Your mind can easily go into overdrive about what might happen.

I’m really pleased you posted your concerns here.  Wonder if you could distract yourself some how today with some things you enjoy.

Escapism in a film or book? Would a genre walk be possible? Sometimes getting outside makes all the difference, seeing things in nature or just saying “hello” to a stranger can brighten up the day.

Hope the meeting tomorrow goes well and you’re able to get some answers.

Be kind to yourself, have you got anyone around to talk to?

    Sending a hug
