bladder wall thick after bcg

My husband has had 6 bcg and yesterday went for his bladder check to see if it was working. We were told that the bladder lining was thick so they took a biopsy. We are worried know because we were hoping they were going to say the cancer has gone and he could start his bcg top up in Oct. Any had this before. Please tell us your story.

Regards to all from Sylvie

  • That suprised me because i read that when something is put into the bladder it doesn't go any further than the bladder and not up the ureter. So the bcg Ronnie has had IE 6. might have got through to the ureter do you think. It's a shame they couldn't get up there the last time because of the thickening of the bladder wall. The consultant in April said there was something there but after a biopsy it came back negative but found cancer cells in the urine round the something. I just hope it hasn't grown any bigger. So its a waiting game again for us till we get to go back to see him for the outcome of the last cystoscope. Good news for you both anyway.

  • Must admit I was surprised but consultant said there was a chance it would work on cancer in the ureter Seems mitomycin is a form of chemo whereas BCG s immunotherapy It's all so complicated to understand xx

  • Yes your right and only they know the answer.

  • Hi Sylvie

No John didnt really have anything like this Only first few days blood and clots Maybe they took biopsies from a few areas and different depths which would account for the scabs Its good his urine is clear Maybe speak to the nurse again to help set your mind at  rest

John is having his ct scan with contrast next Wednesday renal area and thorax I was concerned about thorax but I remembered he had had combined one before To cover all bases He is so well it's hard to get my head round things Did 18 miles on his bike yesterday

    Take care live

  • Hi Celia i have just seen Ronnie off for a days fishing with his mate. I am here on my own wondering what next and looking at my ann cards and flowers Ronnie bought me and thinking i could do with a good cry. But then i think of all the poor people that are worse off than us .But they say there is no ones problems are bigger than your own don't they. The blood has stayed away so far so good. Ronnie had contrast on practically everything and one of those nuclear scans called PET. All those scans and no one has told us any of the outcome. I bet there all going to the consultant and hitting us with it all when we finally go to see him. I was going to do this that and the other today as i am on my own but do you know what i cant be bothered. I know i should keep myself busy but maybe it's the covid and variant jab i had yesterday that's making me feel like crap. I will try and pull myself together.. My niece and her partner are coming for the day on Sunday so that will be nice. She had a new hip 4 week ago and she is always a positive thinker so she keeps me in check bless her. Well done your John all those miles. Sorry for the rant it's just not knowing if the BCG worked and if the bladder lining been thick has stopped it from working. I have been on loads of web sights and can not find a thing about it. Ronnie is the same a picture of health. I look like an old hag. It's put years on me all this.

    Take care Love Sylvie xxx

  • im sure you don't look an old hag I'm not surprised you feel bad after the covid jab it wiped John out He was so so tired was ok after he had it but next morning his arm was  sore and he had no energy he just slept all day He had a bite to eat about 6 and then went to bed for the rest of the day Take it easy perhaps have a nice relaxing bath if it's your thing it a dressing gown on and get warm and snug The grey skies don't help I'm going for a facial this afternoon which is nice and relaxing Then to wake me up to come home eyebrows shaped and lip and chin waxed My friend and I used to have a thing if we were in same old folks home she would make sure I didn't have a hairy chin and if anyone put a tartan blanket on her I would throw it out the window

Keep strong have a good cry as you have the house yourself and enjoy your lovely card Big vitual hug Celia xx
