Pleural effusion

Hi

Just an update regarding my son . He is currently in hospital with pleural effusion and having it drained daily. Now confirmed cancer cells in the pleural fluid spread from primary oesophagus site. Awaiting sealing of the pleural cavity and then pet scan and chemo again.

It never rains but it pours, but we keep going.

Just wondering if anyone has experienced this

  • Hello meltra44,

I am so sorry to hear about your son. It must have come as a real shock to you and I hope that you won't need to wait too long for the PET scan and chemotherapy treatment to start. It probably feels as you said like it never rains but pours and I wanted you to know that the forum is there to support you and to help you keep going on difficult days.

I hope that you will meet others here who have experienced this and if at any point you would like to talk about anything to one of our cancer nurses, feel free to give them a call on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

We're thinking of you and your son during this difficult time and I hope that the treatment will prove to be a success.

    Best wishes,
