I've had 16 rounds of chemo and my latest scans don't show any invasive cancer, but I did have a large area of DCIS. So no matter what I will need surgery and a lymph node biopsy.
I only have small boobs so when I saw my oncologist he suspected mastectomy would be needed, but having seen my consultant today, he says breast conserving surgery is possible.
But now I have to choose! Do I go for mastectomy and no radiotherapy or breast conserving, with radiotherapy and the risk I'll have to have more surgery if the margins aren't clear? So many ifs and buts and swings and roundabouts.
Would really appreciate feedback from anyone who has done either and how they found it.
Many thanks
Vicki
