Has anyone had a Lung Segmentation? How did you get on?

I was wondering if anyone has had a lung segmentectomy and how it went in terms of hospital stay and recovery. 

I was diagnosed with stage 4 inflammatory breast cancer almost 2 years ago and given up to 2 years to live. I've battled hard and have been in remission for 6 months. I was told last week that it's back and on my lung . I'm waiting to hear if the surgeon feels a segmentation is required and just want to hear from anyone who has already been through the procedure rather than Google it and increase my worry.

    Five and a half yrs ago I had a lingulectomy by VATS, which is a video assisted throracoscopic surgery. The tumour was in the lingula. My biggest scar is where the chest drain was! I was discharged after 3 days. I had radiotherapy after a couple of months & this year I said bye bye to my oncologist. Hang in there. I'm sure 5 yrs on procedures are even better x

    I'm not sure which if any procedure is happening yet. I find out next Friday because my oncologist is on holiday. I won't be saying goodbye to my oncologist unfortunately but I have proven him wrong once when he said I didn't have much hope of getting into remission. In 3 weeks time my 2 years are up and hopefully with the cancer being cut out of my lung I'll get back into remission.

    It must have been a joyous occasion being able to say goodbye to your oncologist. Well done you!!

    Thanks! What I didn't tell you was in 2011 I had colon cancer, 2016 lung cancer & 2017 breast cancer. All primary cancers. I'm like the proverbial cat with 9 lives! The worst bit of it all is the horrible side effect of neuropathy from chemo for the colon cancer. Its never gone away. So for the other cancers I couldn't have more chemo. Anyway, in 3 months it'll be 5 yrs since my bilateral mastectomy so fingers crossed. I had immediate reconstruction & my boobs are great! I hope you navigate your way thro all the info your onco/surgeon is going to throw at you. Let me know how you get on. If I'm still here there's hope for us all! x

    Nighty you are a warrior!!!

    You've done so well to continue battling time after time. I sincerely hope that you don't have to fight again and that your 5 years turns into the rest of your life.

    I'll let you know my outcome. I am feeling quite down hearing it's back but will come out fighting when it's required.

    Hi Nighty,

    Yes I'm still battling on. I eventually had the segmentation at the end of November. It was horrendously painful and I was in hospital for a week but I'm fully recovered and cancer free again. For how long nobody knows but that's a future battle. 

    How are you doing? Your 5 years have passed by now so I hope it's good news. Please let me know.

    Ohh I'm sorry to hear it was so painful. But it's more than 3 months for you now so things are getting better. Spring is just around the corner and you're cancer free. I'm doing OK and as far as I know the big C isn't around. Make sure you get plenty of rest won't you. I always feel more cheesed off when I'm tired.
