Hi Justathena,

So pleases you’ve reached out. I was really scared too the first session. There is such a build up to it isn’t there and lots of time to think and imagine all kinds of things. 

It’s the unknown that made it so scary for me and maybe for most people. 

I promise you that once you are led into the ward and you see others sitting having their treatment and the kind nurses you’ll start to feel better. 

The nurses are so kind and gentle. If you’re worried about anything then ask and they will always respond with kindness. You are allocated your own nurse for the day. They will look after you very well.

Practical suggestions are to dress with comfortable clothing. I tend to wear a cap sleeve t-shirt and joggers. But you might want to wear something that cheers you up like a pretty dress? Just think about using the loo easily :)) 

I take a bottle of water as the water in the jugs don’t always taste very nice. Try to drink lots. Any little snacks you like and a good book or some entertainment. 

Chemo has been painless and everyone else I’ve seen has appeared to be fine too (I’ve had 3 sessions so far) I’ve tried the cold cap but decided not to continue with it. 

So far for me my side effects have been manageable but if you do get any, don’t struggle on in silence. 

Thinking of you - you’re not alone. Lots of people have walked this journey before us and many will come after us. I am trying to be kind to myself, live each day as it comes and staying hopeful. Xx
