Just looking for advice

diagnosed with stage 3 rectal cancer in September 2021.

Seen surgeon and they've said the only option apart from palliative care is a full pelvic exentration,

had an Ileostomy in October then had a 8 weeks of chemo then 5 weeks of radiotherapy but the scans have shown not much improvement. 

just feeling worried I'm male late 50s married with children and grandchildren. 

Would love to hear of anyone who's had the surgery and managed to live some sort of normal life afterwards I know it's going to be a long road ahead
