I am nearly 2 years post masectomy and am now on the waiting list for a Diep reconstruction on right breast. Anyone out there who has been through this that can chat?

I'm same. Nearly two years since right breast mastectomy. On the waiting list for Diep flap, Diastasis recti fix, and umbilical hernia, all at same time. I'm guessing I'll be waiting a long time to get surgeons who can do all that at same time.
Hi,
Yes I've been waiting , the Consultant keeps deferring the next appointment. I'm hoping to have the op Jan/Feb when there is not much going on but who knows, I believe a big waiting list. What is a Diastasis fix? I was told that often you go back in for rectification so maybe they will do your op in stages? It's taken me 2 years to be able to face another surgery but masectomy is so radical and fed up with wearing prothesis. For me it's about cosmetic but scared of a big long op and more scarring. Thanks for replying.

Ah yes diastasis, the Consultant did mention childbirth causing it but she hasn't mentioned a fix to me. My next appointment is in September so I'll learn more.
I'm use to wearing a prosthesis now. Diastasis Recti is caused by pregnancy stretching abdominal muscles. Mine were stretched badly, and I've looked slightly pregnant for last 30 years. I had no idea it could've been fixed after childbirth, and just accepted it as normal. My surgeon told me that it can be fixed and done at same time as Diep flap. He said was quite a big gap of 8cm. To be honest, I'm looking forward to having that done more than the Diep procedure. I just want to be able to not have to wear baggy tops anymore.
Maybe mention if it can be fixed at same time. That's if you would like it to be done :)
Yes def, I want flatboard tummy and perky boobs again!!
