Hair loss help

Evening all

I am awaiting a start date for chemotherapy. I have been told I will lose my hair. I am doing my best to prepare for it. Telling myself it is a small price to pay, it is only temporary and...well, it's only hair. I am not doing over well with that plan.

I realise now that I need to just accept it. So, I'm after some advice around head scarves. Are the brands/designs that are better than the rest? What has been your experience? Any help/advice you can give is greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks

  • Hello I'm so sorry I know it's a very worrying time for you,I also lost my hair and it didn't bother me,all I kept thinking was that the chemo will get rid of the cancer and I will beat it.I bought a few wigs one day I was a blonde and the next day I was a brunette,I can now say my hair has grown back and it is short but it will grow,so try not to worry so much, just keep strong and a positive mind x

  • Hi, I felt exactly the same way.  My hair was blonde and almost waist length.  I decided that instead of simply watching it fall out once my chemo started, I would shave it all off and get it out of the way (my nephew did it for me).  I admit, I cried when I saw my golden locks on the floor, but it had to be done.  I bought loads of scarves, turbans and beany hats from Amazon, they have a very good selection and they look stylish and trendy.  I bought a wig but I didn't wear it much, I found it hot and uncomfortable.  Once the chemo ended it took my hair about 4 months to grow enough that I could throw away the head coverings.  Good luck, Violet, x

  • Hi,

I was the same. I am sorry you feel like this.

Have you thought about the Cold Cap, I used it as I had long thick hair, I lost around 30% and it was hard but it helped me.

have a look on the Paxman website.

    Love Sarah
