Hello Tan1
I'm sorry to hear that you've recently been through treatment for inflammatory breast cancer. Hopefully we will have some ladies here on the forum who have had the same diagnosis and will post to share their stories with you.
I think that most of our members here who have been through treatment for any kind of cancer will understand the anxiety that comes after successful treatment. One of the most common concerns survivors have is that the cancer will come back. Living with uncertainty is never easy. It is important to remind yourself that fear and anxiety are normal parts of survivorship. Worrying about cancer coming back is usually most intense the first year after treatment but it does usually gets better over time.
Talking helps. Be it in an online community such as this one or by telephone or face to face. There's lots of support available. Breast Cancer NOW runs a course called Moving Forwards to help people after their treatment ends. They also have an initiative called Someone Like Me where you may be able to connect and talk with someone who has had similar experiences.
Maggies have support specialists and more formal psychology support available if you want to talk with someone or, alternatively, you're welcome to call our team of nurses to chat things through with them. They'll be back in the office next week on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.
Try not to look too far into the future Tan. None of us know what it holds and looking too far ahead can leave anyone feeling anxious. Keep taking small steps forward in your recovery journey. It's natural to have days when you wobble and on those days be kind to yourself.
The Cancer Chat community is here to listen and support if you want to keep in touch.
Best wishes,
Jenn
