Choice between chemotherapy and tamoxifen

Hi all,

I am 46 and had a mastectomy for primary breast cancer on 11 may. I saw my consultant today who stated that there were precancer cells found in my results. Has sent my stats to America for percentage on wether i will need chemotherapy. In the meantime part of my plan may require tamoxifen. I dont want either as my lymph nodes came back negative, ive had a mastectomy and pre cancer cells are not necessarily cancer. Feel like im being rail roaded into a plan for treatment wen the probaiblity is low.

I dont want uneccesary side effects from either treatment for a maybe or precaution where risk is low.  Any advise or guidance would be most welcome.

Thanks

It's difficult to advise as you don't say what your primary cancer is made up of. It was obviously ER+ hence the tamoxifen. I had high-grade DCIS, LCIS, invasive lobular, and invasive ductal and I didn't need chemo but I did take tamoxifen as I felt I needed to do what I could to mitigate a recurrence.

I felt the need to listen to the experts and act on their advice, after all they are the experts.

    Wishing you the bestx
