I had Her2neg breast cancer and surgery in 2019. It's very scary the thought of the surgery but such a relief when it is over and to know the cancer has been removed. I recovered quickly too, your team and the breast nurses look after you very well. 
There's lots of support on here too

Thanks for your message. Your right, the idea of surgery is scary and the possibility of the results from the lab on analysis and lymph nodes after scary too, I just hope nothing changes in the diagnosis I already have as I've heard this can happen as free surgery 

Was yours hormone positive too?

I was Grade 2 DCI Her neg/pos. I had a masectomy and lymph node clearance at the same time then treatment. Cancer cells were found in 2 lymph nodes. I am now on Anastrozole hormone medication to prevent recurrence. 
It takes over your life so try to take one day at a time. Everybody is different and there is a lot of information to take in. The breast nurses will always answer any questions you may have. Keep posting, I found it helpful on this chat .

im shocked you needed a mastectomy and lymph node clearance as you were her 2 negative and hormone positive, why was this necessary ?  Where you expecting this treatment when you went for surgery? 
 

The forum is really helpful and I find it helpful talking to those who have been through this already. I'm ok with things now but it has been a long journey. I am just worried about waking up and the results following surgery being worse than I've been advised

I was unlucky with my cancer. I had had a mammogram the year before and it was clear. Then this 20mm appeared. The MRI showed calcifications underneath the lump. So i was offered a lumpectomy but if the cancer cells under the lump showing on the MRI were cancer I would then have to have a masectomy. I could have gone to London for a special MRI that will biopsy while in the machine. This would have delayed surgery. I just wanted to remove the cancer asap. They injected a dye to look at the underarm lymph nodes. So masectomy it was, but I recovered quickly from the surgery. I then went onto to treatment. I don't want to overload you before your surgery. I assume you are having lumpectomy which is not so invasive?. I am now awaiting reconstruction. 
This is my journey but everybody is different.

yes I'm just having a lumpectomy following mri and a lymph node biopsy too. I guess although her beg, hormone positive your grade must have been higher and of course the calcifications under your tumour added to the decision for mastectomy which sounds def like a sensible decision. 
I'm pleased your recovery has been so good and hope mine goes as well

my diagnosis was 19ml, HER negative, ER and PR positive with level 3 lymph node involvement. I had my op on the 29th April and made the mistake of trying to get back to normal life within a week! I got rid of the drain on the 5th May so I could convalesce at a friend's place 40 miles away. It's a relief to lose the dratted drain but my armpit and right boob are very painful so I'm taking regular painkillers and lazing about doing nothing but reading, watching tv and feeding 2 dogs as and when they need it. Sleeping can be a bit of a nuisance as I can't lie on the operated side and I keep feeling horribly tired and headachey but these are all things I expected and I just wade through. I developed a mega migraine after the op but I'm prone to them so no big surprise there. 

Advice? Take it very easy, in fact be bone idle! Accept all offers of help, spoil yourself and eat food you fancy, sleep a lot and do any exercises you are given or you'll seize up  and be in more pain.

how did you find out about your lymph nodes? Was it after surgery or did you know before? 
what grade and stage were you? 
yours sounds very similar to mine

my lumpectomy is on Tues and mine is 17mm 

I will let you know how it goes, tbh I'm not too worried about the surgery more the recovery and findings afterward when they look closer at my lymph nodes and the tumour itself. I'm dreading them telling me it's worse than they thought ! 

Im sure you will be fine, the surgery it's self only takes 40 mins max and the surgeons are experts in what they do so try to reassured we are in safe hands

your her2 neg and er positive like me and these are good factors  so we are lucky in this
