Depression post treatment

Hi I'm 6 months post radiotherapy for throat  cancer and a tonsillectomy. I was wondering if it was normal to feel so useless, tired, no pleasure in normal things not even my family these are just a few of the symptoms.      I've had the all clear from my pet scan so I should be elated and yet I feel so down. I used to go to the gym and although im physically able I can't be bothered. My daughter said I might be depressed, is that possible after such good news. I would appreciate any feedback on this as it would be most helpful. Thankyou for the opportunity to talk like this kindest regards Debbie

  • I read somewhere that during times of national crisis - wars, etc - rates of depression are often lower than one would expect, but when they are over, when you would think people would be happier, they tend to peak. Maybe it's similar for you. In a crisis, you are dealing with the situation and sometimes, it's only afterwards, you look back and think what happened, what you missed out on, etc.

  • Hi MargaretMary

Thankyou so much for your reply  you make a very good point it's not something I thought of but it does make a lot of sense. Its very true my focus has been on recovery. Thankyou once again it certainly seems to explain the why.
    kindest regards

    Debbie
